EA Digital Illusions CE AB has contracted with Even Balance, Inc. to integrate PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software into the soon to be released "Play 4 Free" cartoon-style shooter known as Battlefield Heroes™. We will soon be opening a section on our website to support PunkBuster™ for Battlefield Heroes™.
We have an important and serious matter at hand. Many of you may have noticed the new PsB donations thermometer on the front page of the site. The thermometer is a visual representation of our current progress towards purchasing another sorely needed data server. This new server will be used to help handle the massive amounts of data that PsB must process in order to provide everyday services to you.
Many of you have asked to be notified by staff when PsB is in need financial help. That time is now. Please donate to PsB by becoming a Premium Member of the site or by purchasing ad space to display your clan banner on the site or by clicking the donate button and sending in a few dollars. Every bit helps.
We did not have a donations drive for the last server and it took 2 years to save up enough money. The cost was a whopping $5,500. That one has been in service number crunching and powering most of the services since the first of 2008. It replaced a dinosaur of a machine. Now we have a second dying dinosaur that needs to be replaced. Fortunately, the cost of this new server is less because it will mainly be used for look-ups and data storage. The cost for this one is $3,700.
Without getting too long winded here, we are asking for your help. I don’t want this to take 2 years again. Let’s make this happen in 2 months or so this time. The PsB servers need to be able to handle and keep up with the number of member servers streaming. Right now they are strained to the max. Data scan times are getting longer and longer so the time is now.
Please donate a few dollars to the cause. If you do, we will reach our goal in no time and secure a bright future for one of the best anti-cheat services on the planet. Let’s band together and make the mercury rise in the thermometer! I’ll update our total everyday so we can watch it go up!

Global Warfighter League has recently announced that it will require all their match servers to be streaming to PunksBusted for their anti-cheat needs. I would like to welcome them to the family and wish them cheat free gaming.
id Software, Inc. has contracted with Even Balance, Inc. to integrate PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software into the upcoming, free-to-play, web browser based multiplayer game, QUAKE LIVE™. We will soon be opening a section on our website to support PunkBuster™ for QUAKE LIVE™.
We'll be investigating if support for it will be necessarily at PsB (due to the way its set up).
From Even Balance: Touchstone has contracted with Even Balance, Inc. to integrate our PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software into Turok®, the epic, sci-fi first person shooter which is an online capable game developed for PC by Aspyr. PunkBuster™ for Turok will be released via an upcoming game patch.
Just recently there was some change in the staff at Hostile Tactics Gaming League (HTGN) and they have decided to make it mandatory for all match server to be streaming to PunksBusted. Welcome to the family guys!!
You will notice that Punksbusted has a new Company occupying the main sponsoring spot on the website part of PsB's operation. PsB Staff would like to introduce you to who this company is and the fact they are old friends of ours in many ways.
Clanwarz.com has been a long time supporter of PsB and many of you have seen their banners in our regular banner rotation. Clanwarz for the last five years has offered their advice and important financial support alongside you admins and clans. They've done this mostly behind the scenes and without much fanfare. Along with you game server admins and clans they have been a partner in reaching our set goals. This generosity has now been extended by Clanwarz in becoming PsB's main sponsor of our Data Center collocation expenses. This allows the rest of us here to focus on the other financial aspects that PsB requires, in order to meet our important maintenance and projected growth (Servers) expenses. PsB still needs each of you to keep us working in top form and independent in what we do so well.

We can all appreciate how important a location is in relation to your players and the quality of that server is to you.

There are some projects nearing completion, that all admins have contributed to and will benefit from like never before. There is a also a new important step coming up, where we will be again calling on your generosity to assist PsB. More on that later as we prepare.
We rarely announce anything regarding commercial cheats and hacks. However, we are aware of the numerous "You Tube" type videos and posts on various sites where hackers who sell cheats make claims that are false but sound believable about PunkBuster and hack detection status. We receive numerous emails daily by concerned honest players regarding advertisements for undetectable hacks, etc. The truth is that via recent enhancements to PunkBuster's detection capabilities, we have cracked down hard on cheaters who pay for hacks in the games we support. Some commercial cheat sites have closed down due to our new methods and others have private forums where punks routinely complain about getting caught with the "undetectable" hacks, demanding refunds, etc. We have always maintained a strict policy of not giving money to punks, but thanks to community volunteer moles who have helped us obtain access to private hacks via donations of their time, etc., PunkBuster has been catching hacks from virtually all commercial cheat sites in recent weeks and months.
One of the recent enhancements involves our memory scanner which aggressively scans for patterns included in known cheats (public and private). A commercial hack site where we have had recent success catching their subscribers has recently staged a few demonstrations of inserting text-based patterns via certain chat-related systems such as IRC, Instant Messaging, etc. directly into the memory of computers. These are specific text patterns that we have deployed in some supported games in the recent past. It is clear that many of the demonstrators are cheat-supporters willingly participating in the demonstration, but there is evidence that some innocent players had PunkBuster violations triggered during the past few days by the hackers who sent specific text patterns into the chat programs that were open during gameplay. We are removing these text based patterns from our system and encourage admins to not ban for PB violations that occurred during the past few days.
Online gamers who play with other programs running should always enable security features in their messaging and chat programs to deny auto-download of files and only accept downloads from people they know and trust. As always, from PunkBuster's standpoint, if a known cheat pattern is in the memory of the computer during gameplay, then a violation will be triggered. We have always suggested closing other programs while you are playing multiplayer games on PunkBuster servers and that remains the safest policy. Leagues that require chat room usage for competitive play should take steps to ensure that only league participants have access and suspicious activity should be reported to us when there are concerns about manipulating the system.
This news item is well overdue because of other pressing issues with PsB at the time.
PunksBusted has over 11 Million GUIDs tracked (11.3M at the time of this posting) and has over 5 Thousand servers actively streaming.
We would have never gotten anywhere near these significant numbers without the work of the various mods and staff here at PsB and also the dedication and help of every server admin that has signed up for streaming. Over the years, we have tallied up more than 12,000 clans/organizations/server providers that have signed up to participate in our services. A big thanks and a high-five goes out to all those people, past and current!!
Without them, we would have never become the largest PunkBuster Anti-Cheat site out there.
We apologize for being down. What started out as a simple 3-4 hour server update and move from the Dallas, Texas data center to our host's very own, new data center in Plano, Texas, turned out to be a living nightmare.
We had a key server totally die out on us. We had to do a total rebuild of the machine. The good news in all this is that we didn't lose any data. However, streaming was down for approximately 4 days. Any violations that happend during that time will not make it to the MBL. That being said, streaming has now been functioning for a few days even while the web site has been down. We are currently checking to make sure all services are back online.
We have many changes including the new database server being put into service, a totally rebuilt existing server and a new data center with more service protection features and so we're ready to be at the top of our game once again!
If you find issues around the site, please let us know and we'll try to resolve them as soon as possible.
edit df: Streaming is currently up (as it was the last few days). It can take the forum, MBLc status, AT and signatures up to 24h to pick up on the changes. Feel free to check real time if your server is streaming by entering the ip:port in the front page.
